This morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee begins its hearings for Loretta Lynch, nominated to be Attorney General of the United States. Ms. Lynch, currently U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, is eminently qualified for the position to which she has been nominated, with experience in government service, private practice, and academia. Her reputation for fairness and dedication to the rule of law is well-established. Ms. Lynch’s record also exemplifies a commitment to public service. What is more, if confirmed, Ms. Lynch would be the first African American woman to serve as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer. The National Women’s Law Center strongly supports her nomination to be Attorney General.
